Most ad accounts don't fail because of targeting — they fail because of creative and structure. Here's the framework we use to turn Meta ads into a predictable growth channel.
1. Fix tracking first
Before spending a dollar, make sure your pixel and conversion events fire correctly. Without clean data, the algorithm optimizes for the wrong people and every decision you make is a guess.
2. Creative is the new targeting
Broad audiences plus strong creative usually beat narrow audiences plus weak creative. Test several hooks, formats and angles at once, and let the results tell you what your customers respond to.
- Test 3–5 creatives per ad set
- Lead with the hook in the first second of video ads
- Refresh winning concepts before they fatigue
“The ad account doesn't need more targeting options. It needs better videos.”
3. A simple full-funnel structure
Separate prospecting (new people) from retargeting (people who visited or engaged). Keep the structure simple so budget flows to what works instead of being split across dozens of tiny ad sets.
4. Scale what's proven
Increase budgets gradually on winning ad sets and duplicate winning creative into new angles. Review results weekly and cut what isn't pulling its weight.
The takeaway
Clean tracking, constant creative testing and a simple structure are the foundation of profitable ads. Get those right and scaling becomes a matter of budget, not luck.
